Fishing Rod
The fishing rod is a long, flexible fly fishing rod used to catch fish. At its simplest, a fishing rod is a simple stay or pole attached to a line ending in a catch (formerly known as an angle, hence the term angling). The length of the rod can vary among 2 and 20 ft (0. 61 and 6th. 10 m). To lure fish, bait or fishing lures are impaled on one or even more hooks attached to the line. The queue is generally stored on a reel which reduces tangles and assists in landing a fish.
Traditionally rods are produced from bamboo, while contemporary supports are usually made from fibreglass or perhaps carbon fibre. In contrast with nets, which are usually used in subsistence and commercial fishing, angling rods are more often used in recreational fishing and competitive casting. Fishing rods can be found in many sizes, actions, lengths and configurations depending on whether or not they are to be used for small , channel or large fish or perhaps in different fresh or salt water situations. Various types of fishing rods are designed for certain types of fishing. Fly rods are used to cast man-made flies, spinning rods and bait casting rods are created to cast baits or tackle. The ability of fly fishing took a great leap forward after the English Civil Warfare, where a newly found interest in the activity left its tag on the many books and treatises that were written on the subject at the time. The renowned expert in the Parliamentary army, Robert Venables, published in 1662 The Experienced Angler, or Angling improved, being a general discourse of angling, imparting lots of the aptest ways and best experiments for the acquiring of most sorts of fish in pond or river.[1] Compleat Angler was written by Izaak Walton in 1653 (although Walton prolonged to add to it for a one fourth of a century) and identified the fishing in the Derbyshire Wye. It was a party of the art and character of fishing in the entire and verse; six poems were quoted from David Dennys's earlier work. A second part to the book was added by Walton's good friend Charles Cotton.[1]

Modern design and fabrication techniques, along with advanced materials just like graphite, boron and fiber-glass composites as well as stainless steel(see Emmrod)- have allowed pole makers to tailor both shape and action of fishing rods for greater casting distance, accuracy, and fish-fighting qualities. Today, reef fishing rods are identified by their weight (meaning the pounds of line or bait required to flex a fully filled rod) and action (describing the speed with which the stick returns to its neutral position).
Generally there are 3 types of rods used today graphite, fiberglass, and bamboo rods. Bamboo fishing rods are the heaviest of the three, but people still use it for its feel. Fiberglass supports are the heaviest of the brand-new chemically-made material rods. They are mostly popular with the new and young anglers, as well as anglers who cannot afford the generally higher priced graphite rods. They are more commonly found among those fishers that fish in tough areas such as on dirt or piers where trashing the rod on hard objects is a greater opportunity. This may potentially cause damage, making a fiberglass stick preferable for some anglers because of higher durability and cost compared to graphite rods. Today's most popular rod is frequently graphite for its light weight characteristics and its ability to allow for additional and more accurate cast.[7][8] Graphite equipment tend to be more sensitive, allowing the user to feel bites from fish easier.
Modern fishing rods retain cork as a typical substance for grips. Cork is light, durable, keeps nice and tends to transmit fishing rod vibrations better than synthetic components, although EVA foam is usually used. Reel seats are often of graphite-reinforced plastic, aluminum, or wood. Guides come in steel and titanium having a wide variety of high-tech metal mix inserts replacing the classic calot inserts of earlier supports.
Back- or butt-rests can also be used with modern fishing supports to make it easier to pull big fish off the water. These are fork-like supports that help keep the rod in position, providing influence and counteracting tensions the effect of a caught fish.
